Okay, my morning can consist of many rituals: tongue scraping, belly massage and use of the Neti Pot. However, I am convinced that all those rituals are good to start the morning gently and prepare for a new day. And if those rituals only have benefits, I want to consciously take the time for them.

I would like to tell you more about the Neti Pot, a part of the Ayurvedic health doctrine.
It’s a way to keep your nose and associated nasal passages clean.
You use a special pitcher to place against your nose.

THE ORIGIN OF THE NETI POT:

Part of Ayurvedic health.

Nasal rinse to clean your nose in a good, healthy and efficient way.

Part of the 6 Shatkarmas (ways to cleanse your body).

ADVANTAGES:

Less mucus accumulation in nasal and nasal cavities.

Keep nasal mucus healthy.

More breathing space due to the absence of ‘obstacles’.

Good for people who suffer from hay fever because pollen, dust and other dirt are washed away.

Yoga breathing is supported.

HOW TO USE:

Know that using the Neti Pot takes some practice but trust me, it’s worth it!
Don’t give up too quickly, it’s a matter of using the right technique.

Fill your Neti Pot with lukewarm water, about 37 degrees, but feel how it feels to you. (too cold and too hot is not pleasant for your nasal cavities).

Fill with less than half a teaspoon of Himalayan salt (you can also use any other salt, but the purest form of salt is Himalayan salt). Again, you can feel what you like about salt, but don’t start too much.

Mix well.

Open your mouth slightly, place the jar against one nostril (tightly closed) and let the water flow through your nostril so that it flows out the other nostril. The best technique is to tilt your head slightly (if you place your Neti Pot on the left nostril, then position your head on the right) with your chin slightly tucked back.

Do the other side.

Drain Neti Pot.

Clean your nose well by blowing your nose.

Clean the Neti Pot and let it dry.

TIPS:

Use distilled water or boiled water.

I use the Neti Pot a few times a week and when I have a cold I also use it in the evening.

Don’t use too much salt or you can irritate your nose.

Boil your Neti Pot once a week (not in the dishwasher!).

SORTS OF POTS:

There are Neti pots in different shapes and colors.
I prefer porcelain because they clean well and are more durable.

You can see how to use the pot in the video below.
